Meet Morrison Construction
The International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congress & Exhibition in Toronto is quickly approaching with less than one month to go. As preparations continue, Morrison Construction, part of the Galliford Try Group, are thrilled to share their knowledge and expertise as a key player highlighting the importance of both environmental and social sustainability within the UK water industry.
Showcasing our dedication to nature resilience, Morrison Construction have recognised the critical role of environmental stewardship in their projects. Implementing various initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity and reducing the ecological footprint of their operations. For instance, they have integrated natural habitats within their construction sites, ensuring that local wildlife is protected and even encouraged to thrive. Creating a net gain in biodiversity, demonstrates Morrison Construction’s dedication to developing long-term solutions for the communities they serve.
As we move into AMP8 (define here) eco-conscious practices are incorporated into future work. Many of our flood defence schemes utilise natural flood management techniques, such as the creation of wetlands and the planting of native vegetation. These methods not only provide effective flood protection but also create rich habitats for wildlife, thus fostering greater biodiversity.
Morrison Construction’s commitment to ecological sustainability is paired with our commitment to create social value amongst the communities we work within. Through community engagement initiatives, we actively involve local residents in the planning and execution of their projects, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed.
Investing in local economies by prioritising the hiring of local workers and sourcing materials from local suppliers. Not underestimating the value of training and apprenticeship programs which help upskill the local workforce, offering long-term employment opportunities and fostering economic growth.
This multimodal approach to suitability allows Morrison Construction to develop a pragmatic approach to delivering long-term nature based solutions and solutions which also address the more time-sensitive demands of the residents. This holistic approach sets a benchmark for the industry, demonstrating that it is possible to balance commercial success with social and environmental responsibility.
As we prepare for the IWA congress we are excited to share our experiences, developing connections, sparking conversations and fuelling new ideas to take our collective efforts and work together in improving the water industry across the globe for all.
We look forward to seeing you in Toronto!
