Leading the way: journey to Toronto

Project Leads for this year’s UK Pavilion Lorraine Bruce (Scottish Water) and Gemma Woods (Anglian Water) met halfway this week inthe historic city of Durham for a workshop to progress plans for the event in Toronto taking place 11-15 August 2024.

Having worked together virtually for the last 3 years in preparation for the Copenhagen Congress in 2022 and since October 2023 onplans for Toronto an in person meeting was long overdue!

Lorraine Bruce said “given we are only 3 months away now from arriving in Toronto to stage and deliver the UK Pavilion exhibition andprogramme of events it was really productive and enjoyable to spend 24 hours with Gemma developing our strategic goals andtactical plans for this critical phase of the project. As Project Leads we are taking a real pride in steering the ship and providing adirection of travel for all parties involved.

I’m personally enjoying the opportunity to apply my event management experience to such a collaborative project working with IWA,colleagues in other UK Water sector organisations and our sponsors. Our aim is to engage the audience in a dynamic pavilion spaceand delegate experience which will showcase the best of our industry and knowledge share with our colleagues around the world.

Gemma Woods said “a huge amount of work has gone into establishing the Pavilion so far and it’s fantastic to start to see it comingto life. It will be amazing to showcase a selection of the pioneering work coming out of the UK. During this experience it’s been greatto expand my network and work with colleagues across the UK and I can’t wait for this community to continue on the journey to Glasgow”
